Youth Ministries

4th and 5th GRADERS

The new 4th and 5th grade youth group met for the first time on Sunday, February 8th. Led by Barbara Daley, Kathy Otten and Pastor Andrew, the group of excited kids, RBA and InCast helpers, (and big kids) played fun games, took a short hike and spent time getting to know each other. Based on the fact that all twelve of the kids who attended are bringing a friend back with them next month, we know this will be a very involved and positive peer group!

This group will meet monthly, Sundays, at Smith Church from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

RBA is an ecumenical youth ministry sponsored by, and based out, of Smith Memorial Congregational Church in Hillsboro and open to all kids in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The group meets every Tuesday night from 6:00-7:30 p.m. downstairs at Smith Church.

RBA thrives on the representation of young people from all denominations (or no denomination) in its membership.  We capitalize on those qualities that all faiths have in common.  We recognize that each person has individual weaknesses, but also has individual and unique strengths.

InCasts like RBA thrives on the representation of young people from all denominations (or no denomination) in its membership. For those of you eligible to join INCASTS (grades 9-12), we meet every Tuesday night from 7:15-9:00 p.m. downstairs at Smith Church.

Both RBA and InCasts are a high-end, adventure-based peer groups aimed at providing social growth and confidence-building opportunities for all participants.  Much of the planning of what we do during the year is done by group consensus. We can guarantee that throughout the year, RBA and InCasts will provide its members the chance to downhill and cross-country ski; to load, paddle and live out of a canoe; to cook over a campfire; to build an expedient survival shelter; to travel to and enjoy cities like Boston, New York, Washington, DC, or Montreal; to find the joy of making a difference in our service projects; to express our musical creativity; to explore our faith and our understanding of what it means to be a positive member of a community; to develop the skills needed for social interaction; to build a foundation for positive self-esteem; and above all, to have the incredible fun of being part of a group of fantastic young adults in a proven peer experience.

Both groups are led by Barbara Daley. For additional information, contact Barbara at 464-5239.
